Our Eastern Sierra Adventure Begins: Family, Fishing & Fun at June Lake!

The wait is over, and a new adventure begins! 🥳 We are so thrilled to announce that the very first video from our Eastern Sierra trip is going LIVE this Labor Day morning, Monday, September 1st, at 8 AM PT. It feels wonderful to kick off a new chapter of travels with you all.

This first video is a really special one for us. We were lucky enough to have some of our family join us to kick off the trip, including our son, Tan. A friendly fishing competition quickly became the main event of their visit, and we had an absolute blast seeing who could catch the biggest (and the most!) fish in beautiful June Lake! 😉

Beyond the fishing, we'll take you to our beautiful boondocking spot on Bald Mountain Road and share our adventures exploring the stunning June Lake Loop. The days were filled with scenic hikes, fun off-roading, and lots of laughs around the campsite.

Starting this new journey surrounded by family in such a gorgeous place was the perfect beginning. We had so much fun making this video and can't wait to share it with you.

We hope you'll tune in on Monday morning to join the fun! Let us know what you think in the YouTube comments.

Standing with Giants: Exploring the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest 🌲⛰️

Our Eastern Sierra adventure has taken a turn off the beaten path and high into the sky! We’ve journeyed into the starkly beautiful White Mountains, setting up camp at Grandview Campground at a dizzying elevation of over 10,000 feet. The air is thin, the stars are brilliant, and the inhabitants are some of the oldest living things on Earth. ✨

The main reason for our visit here was to explore the incredible Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. The photo above gives you a glimpse,

but it's hard to put into words what it feels like to stand next to these gnarled, resilient trees. They are true survivors, thousands of years old, clinging to life in an unforgiving environment. We spent hours walking the trails in absolute awe and even went on a search for the famously ancient tree known as Methuselah—a humbling experience to be in the presence of such history.

The adventure didn't stop with the trees. The surrounding landscape is rugged and beautiful, and we enjoyed hiking several other trails in the area. We also had a great time taking the truck out for some fun 4x4 off-roading on the mountain roads, exploring the vast, open spaces. 🚙

The White Mountains are a truly unforgettable place, a perfect blend of natural history and rugged beauty. We're having a wonderful time capturing it all and can't wait to share it in a future video! 🎥

Ghosts, Hot Springs, and Salty Lakes: Our Adventure in the Bridgeport Basin 👻♨️

Continuing our journey north on Highway 395, we left the Mammoth area behind and drove into one of the most unique and historically rich regions of the entire Eastern Sierra: the Bridgeport and Mono Lake area. We found a quiet boondocking spot just outside of Bridgeport that would serve as our home base for a few days of incredible exploration. 🚐

Our first evening destination was the famous Mono Lake, and it did not disappoint. The photo above captures a bit of the magic, but it’s hard to describe the feeling of seeing the soft evening light on the strange and beautiful tufa towers. It truly is a fascinating landscape, and watching the birds interact with this ancient, salty lake was a peaceful and unforgettable experience. ✨

The next day was all about history. We took a trip out to what is now one of our favorite historical parks: Bodie State Historic Park. Taking a tour through this ghost town, which is preserved in a state of "arrested decay," is like stepping directly back into the 1880s. Every building and artifact tells a story, and it was an absolutely captivating day. 🤠

Our time here was also filled with simpler pleasures. We enjoyed a relaxing walk around the unique mineral formations at the famous Travertine Hot Springs and spent some time exploring the charming, old-western town of Bridgeport itself. 😊

This area has been a highlight of our Sierra trip so far, with its incredible mix of geology, history, and beautiful scenery. We are having a wonderful time capturing it all for our new video series! 🎥

Mammoth Lakes Adventures: Devils Postpile, Rainbow Falls & a Surprise Festival!

Our Eastern Sierra adventure continues! After a wonderful time exploring the Rock Creek area, we made the short but beautiful drive north on Highway 395 to our next destination: the lively mountain town of Mammoth Lakes. We've settled into Pine Glen Campground, which is a perfect home base for all the amazing things to see and do here.

We couldn't wait to get out and explore, so our first big adventure was a hike that’s been on our list for a while. We took the shuttle down to Devils Postpile National Monument to see the incredible columnar basalt formations—they are truly a sight to behold! The trail continues on to the stunning Rainbow Falls, the powerful waterfall you see pictured above. The mist and the rainbows it creates are just magical.

Back in town, we've been enjoying the fun atmosphere. Of course, no trip to Mammoth is complete without a "mandatory" stop at Schat's Bakery for some delicious pastries! We also had a stroke of luck and happened to be here during a local wine festival, which was a wonderful and unexpected treat.

Exciting Video News!

And speaking of our travels, we have an exciting announcement! We are now deep into editing the very first episode of our new Eastern Sierra series. This first video will feature our time at our first stop in June Lake, and we are hoping to have it ready for you all next weekend! We can't wait to officially kick off this new video journey with you.

For now, we're soaking up every minute in Mammoth Lakes and looking forward to sharing more updates from the road.

Exploring Rock Creek: A Hiker's Paradise in the Eastern Sierra

Our Eastern Sierra adventure continues! After a wonderful time near June Lake, we packed up and made the scenic drive south on Highway 395 to our next destination: the beautiful Big Pine and Rock Creek area. We've settled into the lovely Upper Sage Flat Campground, nestled right against the mountains, and the scenery is just as spectacular as we’d hoped.

(Suggestion: Embed your beautiful photo of Marsh Lake here)

Our first day here was an absolute whirlwind of Sierra goodness! We started with a spectacular hike in the Rock Creek canyon, making our way past the beautiful Marsh Lake (pictured above) and continuing the climb up to our highest point of the day, Long Lake. The views were incredible! After the hike, we visited the historic Rock Creek Lodge and then rewarded ourselves by discovering a new local spot, Miller & Son BBQ sauce brewing Co., for a delicious lunch and their famous blueberry pie.

The fun didn't stop there. The next day, we took the truck out to do some exploring on the backroads. We had a great time doing some fun off-roading and getting a different perspective on this rugged landscape.

We are really loving the peaceful atmosphere of this area and are busy capturing all these moments for our upcoming Eastern Sierra video series. There is so much beauty to explore here!

The Grand Finale: Bringing Our Alaska Adventure Full Circle at Mile 0

The day is finally here. It's with a mix of excitement and a little bit of sadness that we announce our final Alaska episode, #21, is going live tomorrow morning, Sunday, August 10th, at 8 AM PT. This journey has been a dream of ours for so long, and sharing its final chapter is a truly bittersweet moment.

This episode follows our "backwards" journey down the Alaska Highway, ending where most adventures begin: Dawson Creek, British Columbia. We'll take you with us as we explore some incredible pieces of history, like the impressive curved wooden trestle of the Kiskatinaw Bridge, and take a stroll through the past at the Walter Wright Pioneer Village.

Finally, we share the moment this whole trip has been leading up to. We visit the iconic Mile 0 post to make our journey official, place our sticker among the thousands of others, and reflect on this trip of a lifetime. It was a powerful feeling to bring such a massive adventure full circle.

We simply cannot wrap this up without extending our deepest, most heartfelt thank you to every single one of you. Your comments, your encouragement, and your shared excitement have been a constant source of motivation through many long hours of editing. You've made this so much more than just a trip for us. As we close this chapter, we'd love to hear from you in the YouTube comments: What was your favorite part of the entire Alaska series?

This incredible journey may be over, but our next one in the Eastern Sierra is just beginning! We can't wait to share what's next.

Happy Trails,

Greetings from Big Pine! Hiking the Famous Big Pine Creek Trail 🌲

Our Eastern Sierra adventure continues! After a wonderful time near June Lake, we packed up and made the scenic drive south on Highway 395 to our next destination: the beautiful Big Pine area. We've settled into the lovely Upper Sage Flat Campground, nestled right against the mountains, and the scenery is just as spectacular as we’d hoped.

The absolute highlight so far has been getting our hiking boots on and exploring the famous Big Pine Creek Trail. The trailhead, right by the historic Glacier Lodge, is the gateway to some of the most stunning alpine scenery in the Sierra. The photo above is just a small taste of the rugged beauty of this trail, with its crystal-clear creek and towering granite peaks. It’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding hike that we can’t wait to share more of.

Beyond the trails, we’ve also been enjoying the local atmosphere. We spent some time exploring the charming town of Big Pine, where we found a unique little coffee shop perfect for a quiet morning. Back at the campground, we've had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful new friends, sharing stories and tips, which is always one of the best parts of this lifestyle.

We are really loving the vibe of this area and are busy capturing all these moments for our upcoming Eastern Sierra video series. There is so much beauty to explore here!

And So It Begins! Our Eastern Sierra Adventure is Underway ⛰️

For weeks, it’s been a plan on a map, a "rough draft" of an adventure we couldn't wait to start. Now, we’re thrilled to say, it’s finally happening! 🎉 We’ve officially kicked off our summer/fall journey through the beautiful Eastern Sierra. We've traded the sunny hills of San Diego for the crisp mountain air and have settled into our very first boondocking spot of the trip on Bald Mountain Road, near the stunning June Lake.

What a perfect way to begin! The spot is quiet, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. ✨ The past few days have been exactly what we hoped for—relaxing and filled with quality time with family. We’ve been settling into the rhythm of the road again, enjoying some scenic hikes 🥾, a little bit of fishing 🎣, some fun off-roading 🚙, and of course, breaking in the campsite with some delicious outdoor cooking! 🍳 We're already feeling right at home out here.

We are so excited to start capturing these moments for a whole new series of videos. 🎥 But before we get too far into the Sierra Nevada, we have one last journey to complete with you all.

That's right, we are also hard at work on the grand finale of our Alaska series! 🏔️ We're putting the finishing touches on Episode 21 and plan to release it next weekend. It’s an incredible chapter, and we can’t wait to give that epic adventure a proper send-off. Stay tuned for the official announcement! 🗓️

For now, we hope you enjoy this first little glimpse of our new home on the road. It feels great to be on another adventure, and we're so happy to have you with us. 😊
