Fantastic Fairbanks!

We arrived amidst occasional showers and settled into Olnes Pond Campground in the Lower Chatanika River recreation area. It felt like we had the place to ourselves most of the time, and being just 20 miles north of Fairbanks offered the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. Moose sightings were a near-daily treat!

Our Fairbanks adventures included: braving the Dalton Highway (in the pouring rain!), a much-needed (and pricey!) car wash afterwards, relaxing at Chena Hot Springs, exploring the Fairbanks Museum of the North, and even some souvenir shopping at the North Pole at the Santa Clause Shop! We had an absolute blast.

Next up: a Harvest Host stay at Delta Meat and Sausage, then a rendezvous in Tok with @GoldenAnniversaryAdventure . We might just conquer the Top Of The World Highway – stay tuned!

We made it to Denali!

Denali has welcomed us with a mix of rain and breathtaking moments. We've been lucky enough to witness the mountain in all its glory, both peaks clear against the sky. Wildlife encounters and exploration have filled our days, even with the drizzle. 

We splurged on the Tundra Wilderness Tour, and it was worth every penny! Our guide was fantastic, sharing fascinating insights about the local wildlife and history. Plus, we lucked out with the only sunny day of our trip, making it an unforgettable experience.

Up next: we're venturing north of Fairbanks, chasing the elusive Aurora Borealis. Fingers crossed for clear skies!

Goodbye Kenai, Hello Palmer! 👋

We had a whirlwind visit to Homer - delicious meal, a beer at the iconic Salty Dog Saloon (look for our sticker!), and some amazing drone footage coming soon to a video near you! 🚁

Next, it was off to the Russian River Campground for our last night before they closed for the season. The light mist made for perfect hiking weather, and we even saw salmon jumping at the falls! 🐟
This campground is a definite favorite - highly recommended!

We then headed north, passing Anchorage and arriving in Palmer just before the State Fair. The excitement was palpable as everyone prepared for this big event. 🎉


Now we're enjoying a few nights of Harvest Hosting in Willow before our week-long Denali adventure. Get ready for some incredible videos! 🏞️

From Valdez to Whittier and Seward!

 With a mix of excitement and apprehension, we boarded the ferry in Valdez, our RV in tow, and set sail across the stunning Prince William Sound to Whittier, AK! 

The ferry ride was truly breathtaking, even with the intermittent rain. While it might not be the most budget-friendly travel option, the fuel savings and unforgettable scenery made it worthwhile.Arriving in Whittier amidst a downpour, we decided to skip our planned town walk and instead headed straight through the impressive Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel - the longest combined auto/train tunnel in North America - to our campsite at Williwaw Campground. Nestled in the Chugach National Forest, this campground is truly picturesque. Unfortunately, the rain persisted, so we cut our stay short and made our way to Seward.

 

Luckily, the weather in Seward cleared up for a day and a half, allowing us to explore this charming tourist town. We even seized the opportunity to take a spontaneous dinner cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park – a highlight of our trip so far!

On the bright side, the rainy days gave us some much-needed time to catch up on video editing. So, get ready – the Alaska series will be hitting YouTube soon! Next stop: Homer!

Palomar Mountain - Camping at an Observatory!

 Finally! It's released!  Our camping trip to Palomar Mountain and Observatory Campground. Complete with a visit to the Hale Telescope and a beautiful hike in the woods.  This one took a long time to make as we were in the middle of some serious travel days.  But keep posted as this is the prequel for our Alaska trip series which is right around the corner.

Valdez Alaska

Valdez is beautiful, and we had such a great time here. From the fishing (the pinks were running) to breathtaking landscapes, waterfalls, and glaciers, to just kicking back and enjoying this perfect town. We heard one fellow RVer giving advice to a family member - "If you are coming to Alaska, don't visit Valdez first - it will run the rest of it for you!". We hope that's not true because that's what we did :) But we will capture all of this and more in our future video. Next, we take the ferry to Whittier where we plan to stay in the Chugach National Forest. It will be a lot of firsts for us - A ferry ride, North America's longest combined auto/train tunnel, and the Kenia Peninsula! Stay Tuned...

Alaska Update!

We made it to Alaska! Again! We successfully completed our journey up the Alcan Highway, racking up over 3500 miles on our trip odometer. We did encounter a few challenges along the way, which we'll detail in an upcoming video. We've been primarily boondocking through the Yukon and now Alaska, and we can't wait to share those experiences with you. We're currently taking a breather in Valdez, and it's even more beautiful than we imagined. We have a ton of footage to share, so stay tuned for more updates on our Alaskan adventure!

Hyder Alaska!

Hyder exceeded our expectations! The drive into town was truly scenic, and we were able to capture some great footage that we'll be sharing soon. We enjoyed the "Hyderized" experience at the Glacier Inn and the incredible views of Salmon Glacier. We also found a nice boondocking spot that we're excited to tell you about. Next up, we're continuing our journey north along the Cassiar Highway into the Yukon Territory. Thanks for following along!
